With the season winding down, the Philadelphia Phillies need Joe Blanton to continue being a solid contributor from the back of the rotation while looking to secure their fourth straight NL East title.
Blanton will take the mound as first-place Philadelphia opens a three-game series against the Florida Marlins on Monday.
After missing the opening month of the season with an oblique injury, and struggling through mid-June, Blanton (6-6, 5.15 ERA) is 5-1 with a 4.16 ERA in his last 16 games. However, the right-hander failed to record a decision against the Marlins on Tuesday after allowing four runs -- two earned -- and six hits in 6 1/3 innings of Philadelphia's 8-7 win.
